3,000 Gay Weddings During New York State's 1st Year of Marriage Equality

Here is some exciting news! Marriage equality has been the law for slightly more than one year. Since then, 3,000 same-sex couples have gotten married in New York State. These numbers do not include New York City's marriage numbers, as the city for some reason calculates its own marriages separately from other New York citizens. That works out to roughly 6% of all marriages performed in New York State (minus, of course, New York City).

Additionally, marriage equality has raked in hundreds of thousands of dollars throughout the state in marriage license fees alone!
