Captain America Elected President of the United States of America!

Remember a couple weeks back when I posted my Favorite Five Comic Book Presidential Candidates? Looks like I was premature with that piece. If I'd waited a few weeks, I could have used this new Marvel Comics storyline to introduce the concept.

It looks like one of Marvel's best known heroes will become elected President of the United States of America tomorrow. Captain America is set to become elected President through a write-in ballot effort.

Keep in mind that this is part of Marvel's Ultimate Comics line. The Ultimate Comics were an attempt to start fresh with all of Marvel's main characters. Get rid of all the continuity baggage and allow new readers the chance to read their favorite heroes' right from the beginning. Then the years passed and the Ultimate Comics accumulated its own continuity. So the Captain America in the Ultimate Comics isn't really the Captain America who has been portrayed in Marvel Comics over the past 70 years.

Confused? I wouldn't worry about it. Just check out this link for more information on Marvel's Ultimate Comics books.

Back to President Cap. A few months ago, Washington DC got nuked and the USA went all crazy. Chunks of states have split from the USA, which has led to all sorts of chaos and craziness. With all this uncertainty, the American people decided to turn to one man who they believe will unite us once again: Captain America! No word on who becomes the vice president or what political party President Cap represents.

This storyline will begin tomorrow in ULTIMATE COMICS: THE ULTIMATES #15 and will be followed up with issue #16 a couple weeks afterwards. It should be interesting to see how this storyline plays out.
