Gay Marriage Updates: Washington and Illinois!

I know I'm late with these, but...

Washington: Both Washington's House and Senate have passed marriage equality bills. This will now go before the state's governor, who has promised to sign it into law. Of course, anti-marriage activists have already promised to challenge this new law with a referendum, so expect it on that state's ballot this fall.

Illinois: Meanwhile, Illinois state Representative Greg Harris (D) introduced a marriage equality bill yesterday. This comes less than a year after Illinois passed its own civil union law. If passed, existing civil unions will transform into marriages. I polled a random sampling of five friends in Illinois to see if they thought that it would pass. Two of the five thought that it was possible. One thought it was likely to pass. Time will tell if they are correct.
