CDC to America: There Are No Zombies

Remember last May when I posted zombie-preparedness information drafted by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website? They have a new message for America in light of several concerning acts of zombie-like cannibalism. There are no Zombies:
"CDC does not know of a virus or condition that would reanimate the dead (or one that would present zombie-like symptoms)," wrote agency spokesman David Daigle in an email to The Huffington Post. Nevertheless, recent incidents in which humans reportedly ate human flesh have the Internet in a firestorm, with "zombie apocalypse" being Google's third most popular search term by Friday morning.
All of this leaves me wondering, what does the CDC know about the zombie menace that it doesn't want us to know about?
