Free Showings of "Before Your Know It" -- LGBT Documentary on Aging Adventures -- in Iowa City on Tuesday, June 17th, and Saturday, June 21st!

It's Pride Month. A collection of local agencies called the Visibility Action Team have organized a free movie event tomorrow evening featuring "Before You Know It: A Documentary" by PJ Ravel:

"Before You Know It" will be airing in Iowa City tomorrow evening (Tuesday, June 17th) at Film Scene at 5:45 PM. It will be followed by a Skype discussion with the film's creators. The show will be re-airing on Saturday, June 21st, at 3:00 PM at the Iowa City Public Library. This is a free event!

These "are no ordinary senior citizens. they are go-go booted bar-hoppers, love struck activists, troublemaking baton twirlers, later night Internet cruisers, seasoned renegades and bold adventurers. They are also among the estimated 2.4 million lesbian, gay and bisexual Americans over the age of 55 in the United States, many of whom face heightened levels of discrimination, neglect and exclusion... It's a film about generational trailblazers who have surmounted prejudice and defied expectation to form communities of strength, renewal and camaraderie -- whether these communities be affable senior living facilities, lively activist enclaves or wacky queer bars brimming with glittered trinkets and colorful drag queens."
