Is This The End for Marvel Comics' Moon Boy??

I wrote about Marvel Comics' new series MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR a couple of months ago. It features the adventures of Devil Dinosaur and his new partner, a young girl by the name of Lunella Lafaytte (AKA Moon Girl). Lunella is a super-smart girl who has apparently realized that she has the genes to transform into an Inhuman -- which she doesn't want to risk. I assume that she will eventually transform into something more. In the meantime, Lunella will hang out with her new dino-friend and push back against the Killer-Folk -- fuzzy adversaries from Devil's timeline.

Speaking of the Killer-Folk and Devil Dinosaur and their native prehistoric timeline (or alternate dimension or the Savage Land or wherever they are actually from -- it changes every few years depending on who's writing them!), We were told back in August that Devil's old partner, the furry caveman named Moon Boy, will not be a series regular, but will make an appearance in MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR #1.

Sadly, the book's preview showed us why Devil and Moon Boy aren't partners anymore... It looks like Moon Boy gets beaten to death by the Killer-Folk!!

The Killer-Folk twitch off through a portal into the future, leaving Devil Dinosaur and Moon Boy with a touching final moment...

Which leads to Devil Dinosaur racing into the future, presumably to kill off the Killer-Folk and then rebound with a new moon-themed sidekick!

I'm a little upset if indeed Moon Boy was killed off. I had assumed that the pair had been separated by time, not death. Then again, Colossus survived cremation and Nightcrawler survived a robotic arm through his chest. So what's stopping Moon Boy from surviving a Killer-Folk whoop-ass??

MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR #1 debuts on Wednesday, November 25th.
