Senator Peter Micciche (R-Soldotna) and Rep. Dave Talerico (R-Healy) have introduced bills in their respective chambers — SB 120 and HB 236 — which provide for individuals the right to deny marriage applicants “services, accommodations, facilities, goods, or privileges for a purpose related to the solemnization, formation, or celebration of a marriage.”These bills don't appear to be just limited to wedding officiants.
Ironically, under the auspices of these proposals, the same opt-out clause could also be applied in cases of race, age, disability, or national origin.
